The Changing Relationship With Self and Others Through The Ebb and Flow of Life

The Changing Relationship With Self and Others Through The Ebb and Flow of Life

Happy Friday! You are in for a treat today. The conversation I have with my guest Shenan Charania in this episode is such a powerful one. The connection, ease and flow were amazing. We talk about the changing relationship with self and others through the ebb and flow of life.

Shenan’s life journey is so interesting. Currently, he is a transformative coach who works with inspirational leaders. He has a lovely presence which I think you will hear.

During this conversation, we take a deep dive into:

  • How looking for a sense of belonging led to being involved with gang life for over ten years and the realization that a sense of belonging doesn’t come from others, things, experiences;
  • Distorted perspectives and how they play out in life;
  • The journey of self during the journey of life. From the gangster lifestyle to owning a Tim Horton’s to being a coach; and
  • Shame and guilt for past behaviours and choices don’t serve you.

Here are a few thought bomb takeaways:

  • Distorted thinking leads to distorted actions. When someone has a shift in perspective, relationships change in immeasurable ways;
  • Our own interpretation of the past changes as we evolve in our own personal growth;
  • People spend so much time, money and effort searching for the answers to who am I and where do I belong from others, books, drugs, alcohol, food, etc. These efforts are futile, it is only when we shift the direction of our search inwards will we find the answers; and
  • The most beautiful relationship you will ever be in is the one with yourself.

I enjoy reading your emails and appreciate your feedback.

Until next time: Be well. Be inspired. Be You.

The Secret To A Healthy And Happy Romantic Relationship

The Secret To A Healthy And Happy Romantic Relationship

I’m sure many of you read “The Secret To A Healthy And Happy Romantic Relationship” and thought yeah right. If that was you (and even if it wasn’t) I hope you take the time to listen to this week’s podcast episode. It’s an inspiring one.

Continuing this months theme of relationships I chat with Julie Downer and Michael Fall about the ease and playfulness of their relationship. They are a blended family with five kids. Michael is a fitness, nutrition and wellness coach and Julie is a nutrition coach and Veterinarian. With Michael and Julie talking about relationships is fun, I’m totally inspired by these two lovely souls. This was a really fun conversation, although I have to admit, at times I felt like I was eavesdropping on their conversation 🙂  Michael and Julie shared with such openness and honesty. I love their wisdom and their presence.

During this conversation, we take a deep dive into:

  • The power when we embrace our individual wholeness within a romantic relationship;
  • How conflict arises in relationships that come from having unspoken expectations;
  • Relationships can be enjoyable and easy, even when there are conflict and low moods; and
  • Parenting and blending families with grace.

Here are a few thought bomb takeaways:

  • When you try to analyze or conceptualize the actions, interactions and moments in your relationship it clouds our thinking and creates tension;
  • Happiness does not come from another person. If you are looking to your partner to make you happy, you will miss the beautiful place where happiness and an effortless relationship exists – inside;
  • Life is meant to flow, as a result, as do our relationships. Recognizing this, and knowing you don’t have to fix anything when you or your partner are in a low mood lets the natural flow; and
  • When we let go of needing to control, conceptualize or fix and embrace who we are as an individual within a relationship – it can be fun and effortless. What a beautiful and inspiring thought.

I hope you enjoy and please feel free to reach out with any questions or comments. I’m sure Julie and Michael would be happy to circle back.

The Secret to Successful Relationships Starts With You

The Secret to Successful Relationships Starts With You

New podcast episode and a new direction 🙂

I’ve decided to change things up in the new year. Moving forward I am going to try a more thematic approach. So each month, my conversations and guests will focus on a particular theme. I’m really excited about this shift! I’m starting with the basics – for the next month, my conversations will be focused on relationships.

Relationships are such an important aspect of every part of our lives and we are going to cover the relationships with self, romantic relationships, parenting and in the workplace. I can’t wait to share these conversations with you. In this episode, I welcome my friend, fellow coach and business owner Oscar Licon. The thing that has always stood out for me in my conversations with Oscar is his beautiful presence. Don’t take my word for it, listen to the episode and experience it for yourself.

Among other things, Oscar and I chat about:

  • The importance of presence in all relationships;
  • What you are bringing to the relationship is based your state of mind and the quality of relationship you have with yourself;
  • The importance of understanding your experience of life and your relationships comes from within; and
  • The beauty and space for growth the ebb and flow of relationships.

Here are a few thought bomb takeaways:

  • Our experience of life is based on the quality of relationship we have with each other and more so with ourselves;
  • When we are in our heads, caught up in a thought storm we don’t really notice things and people;
  • If you approach your relationships with curiosity and wonder, rather than judgement or criticism, you will be in a beautiful space where there is infinite potential;
  • When you are connecting with another person, do so to understand how they see their world, doing so will deepen your connection; and
  • If you are in a stressful or tumultuous relationship with yourself, this will affect every relationship you have. So fall completely and utterly in love with the amazing being that you are.

Please continue to send me your feedback and questions, they help me serve you in my conversations. By the way, I’m loving the community we are creating. If you enjoyed this episode I would be really grateful if you could leave a review on iTunes.

Until next time: Be well. Be inspired. Be You.

Much love,

Jessie-Lynn

Energy Matters – A Conversation About The Law Of Attraction, Abraham Hicks and The Three Principles Part Two

Energy Matters – A Conversation About The Law Of Attraction, Abraham Hicks and The Three Principles Part Two

ENERGY MATTERS

This is such an EXCITING conversation, it’s a follow up to last weeks podcast episode. I’m releasing this podcast episode early because this Friday, January 18th Dominic and I will be doing a LIVE webinar. If you would like to be part of that conversation the link is below.

I really enjoyed the chat I had with Dominic in the last episode but this one really brought it home for me. In our last episode, we talked a lot about the theoretical background behind the LOA, the teachings of Abraham Hicks and the Three Principles now we get into the juicy stuff. If you haven’t listened to episode 14 I highly recommend you start there.

In this fun conversation we chat about:

  • The practical aspect of the LOA and the teaching of Abraham Hicks;
  • Why the direction of your attention matters;
  • What is abundance; and
  • The power of internal resonance versus dissonance.

Here are a few thought bomb takeaways:

  • When you try to conceptualize pure energy you are attempting to put form to it, however, you conceptualize it will never capture the full potential of it;
  • We live in a world of overflowing abundance, the direction you look in matters. Why not focus on overflowing abundance;
  • The direction of your energy, essence determines the path that you are on, it’s a great thing to pay attention to (for a variety of reasons);
  • Receiving, willing, allowing are all about resonance and a good feeling; and
  • The purpose of life is JOY.

My conversations with Dominic always leave me feeling inspired. His energy and love of life are so infectious. This was a great conversation that really cleared up a lot of what is meant by the Law of Attraction and the teachings of Abraham Hicks. I’m really grateful to Dominic for taking the time to have this conversation and I can’t wait for the upcoming live webinar.

Thank you so much for listening. If you enjoyed this episode I would be really grateful if you could leave a review on iTunes. If you have any comments or feedback please don’t hesitate to reach out.

Energy Matters – A Conversation About The Law Of Attraction, Abraham Hicks and The Three Principles

Energy Matters – A Conversation About The Law Of Attraction, Abraham Hicks and The Three Principles

I love conversations with people who exude wisdom and passion. I have previously tried to understand the Law of Attraction but never felt that I fully grasped the understanding. I met Dominic at a three principles workshop and was intrigued to learn that he had a deep understanding and passion for the law of attraction and Abraham Hicks. I was thrilled to chat with him. There is always something to learn from showing up in a conversation with an open mind. I have learned so much from him and wanted to further the conversation with Dominic on my podcast.

Dominic Scaffidi is an Executive Coach who is grounded in the three principles understanding and is also a student of Abraham Hicks. Prior to my discussions with Dominic, I thought this combination was unique, however, after several conversations I see the complementary nature of these understandings. I’m really grateful for this conversation.

We take a deep dive into:

  • The Law of Attraction and the teachings of Abraham HIcks;
  • The Three Principles understanding; and
  • How the understanding of Abraham Hicks and the Three Principles are complimentary.

Here are a few thought bomb takeaways:

  • Thought is so powerful, it has incredible momentum, and is the missing link between the spiritual and physical;
  • Thought is the creator, feeling is the indicator of that thought, there is so much information in the feeling;
  • You are always creating your own reality, what you consider as magic or miracles can be reframed into your system of beliefs and takes on a completely different form; and
  • When something is true life will teach it to you, I love the simplicity of this.

I could have talked to Dominic for hours, he is such a wise soul and his passion is infectious. This was a great conversation, but a bit more theoretical than both of us expected. We have decided to continue the conversation to discuss the LOA and the teachings of Abraham Hicks from a more practical standpoint. More of that in episode #15. We are also going to do a live webinar on Friday, January 18th to open this conversation to a wider network.

If you enjoy this conversation I would be really grateful if you could leave a review on iTunes. If you have any comments or feedback please don’t hesitate to reach out. I really enjoy reading your emails and welcome your input fur future episode ideas.

Until next time: Be well. Be inspired. Be You.

Intuitive Eating and The Wisdom Behind Living A Healthy Life

Intuitive Eating and The Wisdom Behind Living A Healthy Life

Happy New Year! I hope you all had a wonderful holiday season and are looking forward to 2019 with curiosity, wonder and love.

My conversation with Danielle Lithwick is a perfect way to start the new year on the CPR of Life podcast. Danielle is an Intuitive Eating Coach, body positivist and Personal Trainer. I met her at a social event focused on connection – one of my favourite things. Much of what Danielle points to in her work is parallel with the understanding I work from, that we have innate wisdom within that is available to guide us. Danielle points to this wisdom in her work as a coach and trainer. I enjoyed learning more about her as well as what she does. Danielle is a sweet soul, I enjoyed connecting with her.

During this conversation we chat about:

  • What being body positive means;
  • The ten principles Danielle focuses on as an Intuitive Eating Coach;
  • Why it’s important to honour your hunger; and
  • Emotional eating.

Here are a few thought bomb takeaways:

  • Our innate wisdom includes healthy eating signals;
  • There is a difference between respecting your body versus loving your body;
  • The concept of ‘ideal’ is made up, and differs from person to person, therefore searching for the ideal is futile; and
  • Trust the wisdom of your body, it will never lead you wrong.

I loved the message Danielle promotes, it’s one that makes a lot of sense to me. In my opinion, it’s one that everyone should embrace. Danielle has a vast amount of experience and she definitely embraces her message. She has a great new program coming up, the details are below.

This conversation was a great example of how we have an inbuilt capacity to deal with every aspect of life. Letting go and leaning into trusting our innate wisdom is a beautiful way to start this new year.

Thank-you for listening. I would be grateful if you could leave a review on iTunes. If you have any comments or feedback please don’t hesitate to reach out.

Until next time: Be well. Be inspired. Be You.

Much love,

Jessie-Lynn

Just Play

Just Play

Just Play

This is the last podcast episode before Christmas. For those of you who celebrate I want to wish you a Happy Christmas. I hope that you take time to pause, this time of year can become overwhelmingly busy. Take time to pause, listen to your body and exercise your right to say no and most of all enjoy the moment.

People schedule themselves back to back, have late nights, and have a tendency to eat and drink more at this time of year. While this hopefully is a lot of fun, it can also lead to higher levels of anxious and sad thoughts, and more low mood thinking. This is often the result of being overtired, not eating well, not taking the time to pause.

So my wish for you is this: enjoy the amazing power of connection with your loved ones, and also with yourself. Listen to your wisdom, when your body and mind has had enough, needs some rest, needs time and space to let the dust settle be extra kind to yourself. Give yourself the gift of time, have a nap (naps are amazing), read a book, go for a walk in nature, eat a healthy dose of fruits and veg. All are types of elixirs for the mind and/or body.

I’m going to close out the year with a personal chat on the next episode. This week I have the pleasure of connecting with Nick Bottini. Nick and I went through Clarity coach training together. First and foremost he is a beautiful soul, as well as an author and coach working in the music industry. Nick has just released a book Just Play, it’s a beautiful read that I highly recommend to those who are curious about the connection between state of mind and flow state.

In this wonderful conversation Nick and I talk about:

  • The psychology of performance;
  • Mental health and the flow state in performance; and
  • The process of writing a book.

Here are a few thought bomb takeaways:

  • Mental health (being mentally healthy) is the same for those in the music industry, sports, artists, business, etc. it’s the same for all humans ;
  • Searching for the magic in the success of others is futile, your own magic is within;
  • Resilience isn’t defined by hard work, practice, etc. it’s something innate. We don’t have to search for it. It is within each and every one of us; and
  • If you go looking for ‘flow state’ outside of yourself you will go on an endless search.

I have to be honest when I first picked up Nick’s book I was interested in reading it because he had written it. I wasn’t far into the book when I realized the message in his book is one that all humans, whether performers or not should hear. I encourage you to pick up a copy.

I’m loving the feedback and personal notes. If you have any comments or feedback please don’t hesitate to reach out.

Until next time: Be well. Be inspired. Be You.

Much love,

Jessie-Lynn

Live Your Best Life 101

Live Your Best Life 101

Live Your Best Life 101

This episode is a great one. I loved my conversation with the witty and wise Amir Karkouti. In addition to being a loving husband and father, Amir owns several restaurants, he’s a kick-ass coach and works at a recovery centre. I had the honour and pleasure of participating in a Professional Coaching course with Amir and Ankush Jain, it was a such a fabulous journey. The two of them work together in such an inspiring and complimentary way. What I’ve seen with Amir time and time again is that he shows up fully and gives with such an open heart.

This conversation is a great one, among other things we chat about:

  • Taking action despite the quality of our thinking in the moment;
  • Even if we look different from the outside, we are all looking for the same thing on the inside;
  • When we are trying to figure out life from a conceptual place we are not living; and
  • The power of showing up and doing our best.

Here are a few thought bomb takeaways:

  • The secret ingredient in life, coaching, business, etc. is showing up as YOU;
  • There is no-one who can do you better than you;
  • Life flows much better when we are not caught up in trying to conceptualize everything; and
  • The heart of the matter IS what matters.

If you enjoy this episode I would be grateful if you could leave a review on iTunes. If you think others would enjoy it please feel free to share. If you have any comments or feedback please don’t hesitate to reach out.

How Are You Showing Up?

How Are You Showing Up?

How are you showing up?

This is a conversation I’ve been having a lot lately. Whether with kids, individuals or business owners the question remains the same. So what do I mean by this?

I was having a conversation with my son a few Mondays ago. He was complaining that Mondays suck. I told him that he had been given the gift of the day. What he did with that gift was entirely up to him. He could show up to school, with his friends, etc. in a low state of mind, complaining because it’s Monday or he could appreciate the gift he’d been given and enjoy the day. Be curious and open and see what unfolded for him in the day.

I’ve had the same conversation with business owners/employees, and with individuals who are struggling and feeling stuck. What is the quality of your thinking like? Are you feeling curious? Are you showing up with an open mind and an open heart? Or are you feeling judgemental?

This simple question is one to ask yourself. You have been given the gift of time, how you show up and what you do with that gift depends on how you are showing up. Try a little experiment – think of the energy around your state of mind. How does it feel in your body if you are facing a day, situation, etc. with a negative, judgemental lens? Now switch it up and think of how it feels to face your day, situation, etc with a curious, open-minded lens? Can you feel the difference? What energetic space would you rather spend your time in?
OWN IT! Take charge of how you are showing up. If you choose to look at the world through a lens of Mondays suck it will. It’s not rocket science, you will look for and find evidence to support your story. Or you can show up with gratitude, with curiosity and an open mind and see what unfolds.

As a new week unfolds I encourage you to ponder this and see what comes up for you.
Much love,
Jessie-Lynn
Parenting With An Open Mind

Parenting With An Open Mind

“We all have innate health and innate wellbeing at our core.

We were born with it and it stays with us for life.”

Parenting is beautiful, hard, incredibly rewarding, frustrating, and the most powerful role you will ever have in your life. After a two week break due to a death in the family, I’m happy to release a new podcast episode. This conversation with the beautiful Mandy Spray is a must listen to for all you parents, parents to be, or those working with children.

Mandy is a certified Innate Wellbeing Facilitator and a Clarity Coach and Trainer. Mandy was one of my mentors when I did the facilitator training at Innate Wellbeing. She has such a lovely presence, and her wisdom whispers through her words and presence.

On today’s episode we discuss:

  • Why it’s important to have conversations with parents when working with children. From my experience, it’s necessary for them to understand what we are sharing.
  • Society as a whole will benefit when we stop seeing teenagers as a problem.
  • The science behind what is happening as our children progress through the teenage years.
  • Blame, shame and guilt should not have a seat at the parenting table.

This conversation was filled with some many good takeaways. Not just for parents but for everyone. As Mandy said, this understanding is the same for everyone. I love Mandy’s gentle way of going deeper into a conversation. This is where we breakthrough what appears to be happening and get to the heart of the matter.

Here are a few thought bomb takeaways:

  • We often create stories about our children and then look for evidence to support the story. When we discover how the mind works we see how often we get caught up in our own thinking.
  • What we think is going on and what is actually happening are often very different.
  • Parents are human too! Taking the time and space to let our minds settle, just as we ask our children to do is a step towards a more peaceful and loving relationship; and finally
  • Lead with love.

If you enjoy these conversations please feel free to share it with friends. Also, I would be grateful if you could leave a review on iTunes. If you have any comments or feedback please don’t hesitate to reach out.

Until next time: Be well. Be inspired. Be You.

Much love,

Jessie-Lynn
